ARELLANO and Mapua beat separate rivals on Friday to stay in joint second place in the NCAA Season 91 juniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Guillmer de la Torre had 33 points as the Braves beat Letran, 89-71, while the Red Robins, behind Michael Enriquez's 27-point effort, defeated Lyceum, 76-64.
With the victories, Arellano and Mapua shared second place with a 5-1 win-loss slate behind San Beda (6-0).

Known more as a playmaker, Jiovani Jalalon used the biggest of stages on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena to show he can score as well – and against their Finals tormentors no less.
The third-year rising star still drove his way towards eight assists, but also poured in eight of his 22 points in the final frame as runners-up Arellano University exacted revenge on defending champions San Beda College, 88-84, in Season 91 of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

MANILA, Philippine – In a rematch of last year’s NCAA finals, Arellano University pulled off an 88-84 upset against the defending 5-peat NCAA champion San Beda College on Tuesday, August 18 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.

MANILA, Philippines – Jiovani Jalalon waxed hot in the fourth quarter and lifted the Arellano University Chiefs over the San Beda College Red Lions, 88-84, in a rematch of last season's finalists to end the first round of the NCAA Season 91 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.
