The Education Industry Tripartite Council (EITC) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held a ‘working‘ Christmas Party on November 29, 2018 at the Little Theater of Arellano University.
The more than 50 members from the different colleges and universities were welcomed by Atty. Kristy Jane M. Balino, In-House Legal Counsel and concurrently, Labor Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer of Arellano University. Messages were given by the Vice Chair for the Labor Sector and Vice Chair for the Management Sector, Dr. Nestor M. Asuncion and Atty. Agnes Velasquez-Rivera, respectively.
The 2018 Year-End Assessment report was presented to the audience after which the election of the new set of officers followed. Dr. Nestor M. Asuncion of Mapua University retained his position as Vice Chair of the Labor Sector while Ms. Myrna G. Reyes of the Lyceum of the Philippines was elected as Vice Chair of the Management Sector.
The EITC is the arm of the DOLE assigned to look after concerns of the education industry in the country. Discussions such as the protection of college faculty members who lost their jobs because of the implementation of the senior high school program, the effects of the Train law to teachers, and similar concerns in the education industry are discussed in this body.
The agency is headed by an officer from the DOLE who acts as Chairman and two Vice Chair, one representing management and is usually the head of the Human Resources Department and the other, representing the labor sector, usually the President of the faculty organization of the school.
The occasion was organized by the AU Faculty Organization (AUFO) headed by its president, Ms. Sonia Dignadice, who is the university’s Labor Sector representative to the EITC, assisted by the Human Resources Division headed by Atty. Frederick G. Dedace, AU’s Management Sector EITC representative.
