Aljun Cayawan, a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate of Jose Abad Santos Campus, Arellano University in Pasay City, brought home a rich haul of medals from the 22nd Annual World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Long Beach, California, USA on July 6-15, 2018. He was a member of Team Pilipinas, competing with artists from more than fifty countries.
La Auxion, the college band of Jose Rizal Campus, AU in Malabon lorded over 12 others in the elimination competition held at the Main Campus on July 19, 2018. Nine senior high school and four college bands wowed the ecstatic audience which stayed on to watch and cheer, with the winds and rain of Typhoon Josie.
The two other bands that competed in the final elimination were Second Spring, a senior high school group from Juan Sumulong Campus, and Traffic Jam, a senior high school band from Andres Bonifacio Campus.
With all the stories of violence, corruption in government, calamities and devastation we hear on a day-to-day basis, the following story from Perrine Laureta (perrine.laureta@gmail.com), touches our hearts, regenerate our hopes and make us, again, proud of our country and our countrymen. Thirty eight students of Airline Business Management of Suan Dusit University, located in Hua Hin, Thailand arrived on July 5, 2018 to attend the Airline Business English Enhancement Program of Arellano University. They will stay up to August 2, 2018.
This activity is part of the exchange program of Arellano University and Suan Dusit University that has been on-going for the last four years. Earlier this year, 23 students from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of AU attended the In-Flight Service Training Program in Suan Dusit University from January 4 to 25.
Nine nursing-midwifery students from Edith Cowan University (ECU) of Perth, Western Australia recently concluded the 2-week Community Clinical Placement Program (CCPP) of Arellano University. Held on April 30 to May 11, 2018, the program aimed to expose students to the Philippine Health Care System.
The students were Hayley Boggis, Lisa Buselatto, Rosie Donnelly, Chevelle Fairman, Codey Holker, Sabrina Mahfuz, Lia Manuirirangi, Tegan Perkins and Grace Talbot. They were accompanied and supervised by their clinical instructor, Ms Dianne Bloxsome.
Five of the seven campuses of Arellano University held its earthquake drill on June 16, 2018. The activity which has been mandated by the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) is being done every quarter. AU holds an additional 2-4 drills every year.
