ECU Australian Nursing Students Experience Life-Changing Journey in the Philippines!

By admin, 15 December, 2025

Ten nursing students from Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth, Western Australia, headed by their Clinical Instructor, Prof. Emer Slattery, recently spent time in the Philippines for the Community Clinical Placement Program. Through the partnership between ECU and Arellano University International Nursing Program (AU-INP), these students got to experience Filipino culture while helping local communities in Bulacan, Pampanga, and Laguna.

The participants gained valuable clinical experience through hospital tours, community health projects, medical missions, and family home visits. Alongside these activities, they immersed themselves in Filipino culture and built meaningful connections with the AU-INP students and the community.

This initiative, which started in 2008, is all about creating global citizens who understand and care about communities beyond their own borders, and we are re excited to continue welcoming more students in the future!
