Three students from Arellano University International Nursing Program (INP) earned their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Alderson Broaddus University (ABU), Arellano University’s partner school in Philippi, West Virginia, USA.
Mary Ann Pardilla Alcober, Christopher Ivan Bernabe, Rose Pontevedra Tryon were conferred their BSN degree at the 147th Alderson Broaddus University Commencement Ceremony on May 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Rex Pyles Arena in the Memorial Coliseum.
A day before the commencement day the Class of 2018 Alderson Broaddus University School of Nursing had their Senior Nursing Pinning Convocation. Graduating students received their nursing pins symbolizing pride and accomplishment. The Program Director of AU INP Dr. Emerita C. Mendoza and Associate Professor Dr Anna Katharina G. Pena were privileged to pin the three AU INP students.
During their visit, Dr. Emerita C. Mendoza and Dr. Anna Katharina G. Pena had an audience with ABU President James (Tim) Barry, Ed.D; Joan Propst, EdD, RN Provost/Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mrs. Kimberly White, Chair of the School of Nursing; Amanda Poling, International Student Coordinator; Saundra Hoxie, Registrar; and the faculty and staff of ABU School of Nursing.
Now on its 12th year, the AU-ABU partnership has grown through the years and has given opportunities for Filipino and Fil-Am nursing students to attain globally competitive education and innovative programs. This partnership allows Filipinos, Filipino-Americans, and other foreigner students to start their bachelor degree in the Philippines at Arellano University and transfer to Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia USA to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. To date, twenty AU students have studied at ABU and more than seven AU INP faculty had their learning and observation opportunity at ABU.
To the graduates of ABU/AU INP partnership, in behalf of our President Francisco P.V. Cayco, and Mr. Mario Sales, Vice President for International Programs, the faculty and staff of AU INP, we are extremely proud of you and your many accomplishments at ABU.
