For the second time in a row, the AU ChiefSquad brought home the Champion trophy from the Tinalak Festival Cheerdance Competition. The national open contest, participated in by all the cities of South Cotabato , was held in Koronadal, South Cotobato on July 15, 2019.
Head Coach Lucky San Juan, who steered the AU ChiefSquad to a 3-peat championship in the NCAA , attributes the team’s success to the resourcefulness , discipline and commitment of the members of the team. Having won the championship in the 2017 Tokyo, Japan Open Cheerleading Competition, he looks forward to participating in a Southeast |Asian country in the near future.
Tinalak is a weaving tradition of the T'boli people of South Cotabato. Tinalak cloth are woven from abacá fibers. The traditional female weavers are known as dream weavers, because the pattern of the tinalak cloth are inspired by their dreams.
