A vast array of new opportunities awaits the latest batch of students from the Arellano University International Nursing Program (INP) when they transferred at Edith Cowan University (ECU) Perth, Western Australia to finish their nursing degree.
Katrina May Calderon and Joie Angelu Agda started their nursing classes during the February intake of ECU for the school year 2018-2019. According to them, they were assisted by ECU officers during enrollment thus ensuring a smooth transition. They will start their clinical placements this coming May where they will be exposed to the nursing practices in an Australian health-care setting.
While adjusting and adapting to a new culture proved to be difficult, Kat and Joie found this easier to deal with knowing that there is an INP community in Perth. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by the growing number AU-INP alumni who are graduates of ECU and are now permanent residents and citizens of Australia.
In its effort to provide world class education, Arellano University established a partnership with Edith Cowan University in 2009. ECU is a premier university located in Perth, Western Australia known for its innovative simulation programs and state-of-the-art facilities. ECU caters to a large number of international students from different nations including the Philippines.
Under the 2+2 and 3+2 pathway, the program allows the students to take the first two or three years of their nursing course at Arellano University, Legarda Campus and transfer to Edith Cowan University for their third and fourth year to earn an Australian Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and gain qualification to become registered nurses in Australia. - By Ms. Carla May P.
