The Arellano University junior and senior basketball varsity teams , who emerged number 4 and number 2, respectively, in the semi-finals of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball competitions, were honored with a PEP Rally at the Arellano University grounds last September 26, from 9am to 12noon.

The two teams were presented to students, faculty members , administration officers and staff coming from the six campuses of Arellano University. Fun-filled activities participated in by students and athletes made the PEP Rally an activity to remember.

For three quarters on Friday at the MOA Arena, Arellano University looked like the team that had been defeated in all of their last five outings.

Then the final frame began and they looked like the Braves who not only dominated the first round, but also got the better of seven-time champion San Beda High School.

Birthday boy Donald Gumaru exploded just in time, helping Arellano U pull away from Mapua in the stretch for a 95-82 victory as the Chiefs secure the twice-to-beat edge for the Final Four of the 92nd NCAA seniors basketball at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Arellano University Chiefs went insane in the final frame, knocking down six three-pointers in the final frame, to turn back the Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals, 95-82, to clinch the all-important twice-to-beat advantage in the next round Tuesday afternoon at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

The Arellano University Chiefs achieved a milestone Friday afternoon.

The Chiefs were able to notch its sixth straight win, the longest winning streak of the school since joining the league back in 2009, after a wire-to-wire win against the College of Saint Benilde Blazers, 78-69, in the NCAA Season 92 Seniors Basketball Tournament.
