Young. Resolute. Topnotcher.

Atty. Fernando Felix L. Imperial was born to his parents Fernando Victor Imperial and Ma. Paz Farah Laurel Imperial. He is a dyed-in-the-wool Lasallite studying in De La Salle school from kindergarten to college where he majored in Psychology.

His childhood dream was to be a lawyer, with the hope of even becoming a Justice, so he enrolled in a prestigious sectarian university and studied law therein for two years. On his third year he decided to transfer to the Arellano University School of Law (AUSL).

In the 2020-2021 Bar examination Atty. Imperial, at 29 years old, attained his dream to be a lawyer and, in the process, together with 13 other passers- referred to as Excellent passers-attained a cumulative score of 90%.

Which brings us to the question what makes a topnotcher?

Does the birth order theory of Alfred Adler have something do with it? According to the proponent of the theory Alfred Adler, a middle child – Atty. Imperial is a middle child of five siblings – has certain character traits that make him/her succeed in his/her endeavors. These include strong desire to succeed, attain perfection in what is being done and has a constant drive to have things done as planned. Atty. Imperials has manifested these traits; for one, when asked after the Bar exam if he thought he would make it to the top, he responded β€œI was happy, but not surprised. I put in the work to get a good grade.β€œ

Or did his choice of school help him to attain the stature he now has? Atty. Imperial greatly appreciates the very supportive admin personnel of AUSL, as they helped his seamless transition in transferring schools; in addition, the evaluation of his subjects allowed him to enroll as a third-year student, and they helped him in the choice of professors. As his time in AUSL progressed he also enjoyed the camaraderie between the students and the professors, without sacrificing the quality of instruction, something he did not experience in his previous school. His professors – whom he labelled as β€œamazing” – made the learning activity easy and fun.

It is noteworthy to know that Atty. Imperial has joined the AUSL faculty, mentoring law students who are pursuing their dream to become a lawyer.
