The President of Alderson Broaddus University (AB), Dr. James “Tim” Barry made his first visit to Arellano University (AU) last January 20, 2020. He was with Dr. Joan Lynn Propst, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and the AB International Nursing Program Director. AB, which is located in Philippi, West Virginia USA, is a partner institution of AU in the nursing education. Dr Barry’s visit has been seen as a show of support to the 13- year old AU-AB innovative nursing program partnership.
During his visit, he spent the morning giving a speech to senior high school and the AU International Nursing Program students. He inspired the students to live their dreams and never stop learning. He also emphasized oral communication and listening as skills in the nursing profession. He admonished the students to be open to discovery, to oneself and to the world. Likewise he expressed his commitment to continue to build the partnership between AB and AU.
In the case of Dr. Propst, she gave a heart-warming insight on the life inside the AB campus and the mechanics of the AU-AB BSN program. An added feature was the reading of greetings sent by previous BSN graduates of the program. Dr. Propst also met with INP faculty members for curriculum and syllabi updates.
The AU – International Nursing Program has been on the forefront of this educational opportunity and the AU INP Director, Dr. Emerita Mendoza thanked Dr. Barry and Dr. Propst for the continuing collaboration and support to AU INP.
Now on its 14th year, the Arellano University International Nursing Program is one of the flagship programs of the university to fulfil its vision of being an institution of learning where relevant knowledge is acquired and skills are developed in response to the needs of the global community.
