Arellano University is Now a Member of PAPSAS

Arellano University (AU) was recognized as an official member of the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services (PAPSAS) during its 28th National Conference and Training Workshop held at Fort Ilocandia Resort on November 15-17, 2023.

The AU Dean of the Office for Student Affairs (OSA) Mr. Sherwin Punla, together with Ms. Maria Ravina Remolano – Das, OSA of Andres Bonifacio Campus and Ms. Karla Joan Magdaet of the Jose Rizal Campus attended the affair.

On day two, the first plenary talk about anticipatory decision – making was explained by Atty. Norly Paloma Reyes, the Vice President for Administration and Finance of Bicol. She said that it is important that SAS (Student Affairs and Services) practitioners proactively assess potential outcomes and make choices based on future expectations rather than reacting to immediate circumstances.

In the afternoon, a panel discussion on SAS practices and the sharing of champion projects and advocacies per area took place. For Luzon, the Gender and Development topic was presented by Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs of Don Honorio Ventura State University. For Visayas, the topic Environment Initiatives was discussed by Dr. Edna Calingacion, Dean of Students at Silliman University. For Mindanao, the topic was Peace Building Efforts, which was presented by Ms. Theresa S. Eliab, Director of the Office of Student Affairs at Ateneo de Davao University.

On the last day, the commitment rights were led by PAPSAS adviser, Dr. Evelyn Songco who encouraged the delegates to be relevant, responsive and responsible SAS practitioners.
